It's Portsmouth, NH! Our New Home.

Hello Family,

Thanks again for all your prayers about our new station. We have been assigned to Portsmouth Harbor, NH! Out of 36 locations we ranked, we received our #5 pick! It is close enough to Boston that Beth has 4 (great) choices for law school. And the station has a 47' Motor Life Boat, which Erick needs to get qualified on in order to become a Surfman. Additionally, it is located within 10 minutes of Erick's home town, his mom and his grandparents. We are so looking forward to spending time with them.

Since the day we met, Erick has talked non-stop about New England and his home town. He has a great love for that area, and is overjoyed to have years to show me all of his favorite places. I can't wait to experience the area with him. We look forward to seeing the changing of the seasons again. We really can't wait to get there, unpack our things, and settle into our new life.

We love you!

Half Way!!

This week marks the half way point for us here in Virginia. Erick has been working hard and is quite close to the top of his class. He passed his Nav Rules test, which is one of the biggest hurdles he had while he was at Training Center Yorktown. Much to our enjoyment, we are getting to spend more time together than we thought we would. Every weekend we have taken off to explore a different part of this area, and we have had a blast. We have found some remarkable places and shared some memorable time together. We are FINALLY starting to get a bit used to the cold again! We should find out by the end of the week where our new home will be, and we will be certain to keep you all informed! Thank you for all your prayers and support. This time has been both exciting and stressful for us, and your love has really seen us through it. We are truly looking forward to getting our new station, moving, seeing our kitties again, unpacking our things and most of all, setting up our first home together, just the two of us. It looks like we will end up with a station, as they are plentiful on the list, but please keep us in your prayers. No big boats for us!!!

We wanted to share some pictures we have accumulated during our time here. I hope you enjoy them!

Goodbye 2008, you have been good to us.

It's the last day of 2008, Erick and Beth's one year anniversary (of meeting) and a week until the move! 2008 has been very good to us. We met on New Year's Eve 2007, just by chance. I made a cursory stop by a party for "just a few minutes". But once I met Erick, I stayed for the rest of the night. The joke goes that the next day when I looked back at all the pictures taken on my camera, Erick was looking at me instead of the camera in every one. We exchanged numbers. We hung out the next weekend, and have been inseparable ever since. We truly feel like soul mates. We are so blessed to have come together in the union of marriage this year, and we are so grateful that we enjoy the love and support of so many family and friends.

We will be celebrating our anniversary with a quiet dinner, followed by some champagne on the beach. We have included a slideshow of our year in review, to view it, click on the picture. It will take you to another page, play a little intro, and then you need to click "play". We will keep you updated once we move!

Love,

Erick and Beth

T-Minus 12 Days Until Christmas and 26 Days Until the Big Move

Erick and I decided to start the new holiday tradition of getting two trees. I usually get a Charlie Brown tree, cover it in multi-colored lights and throw on all my favorite mis-matched ornaments that I have received over the years. Erick wanted a big, fluffy tree, and to decorate it in a theme. So we decided, from now on, we will have two trees. We love them both equally and decorated them both together. It looks like a mini-forest in our living room, or like one of those displays at Target with all the different trees! But we think, the more the merrier. Charlie doesn't take up much room anyway :-)

Once Christmas is over, everything will be coming down right away. We are leaving Fort Myers on January 7 for our move to Virginia Beach. We will be in Virginia Beach for three months, and half way through we find out where our next location will be. While we are in Virginia, Erick will be training to be a Boatswain Mate, or boat driver. Once he graduates from that school in April, he will go up in rank and we'll be on our way to a new town. It's very exciting!

Enjoy the Holiday Season. We miss you all very much and we can't wait for a chance to get together again. And wish us luck! We don't want Erick to end up on a big boat where he would be out to sea for months at a time. We want a station, or at the worst, a smaller cutter that is only out for a week or two. So if you pray, please pray for us. And if you don't pray, cross your fingers! Thanks!

The Sullivans

We are the Sullivans; newlyweds, a proud Coast Guard Family and a pair that seeks adventure.
We will be moving around a lot here in the next six months, so we wanted a way to keep everyone updated on our whereabouts, our final location, and of course our adventures. It can be really hard to keep up with everyone, especially with the huge family and network of friends we are blessed with, so I hope this closes the distance a bit. We miss you and love you!

Love,

The Sullivans
